PRE-EMPT
$90.00
Pre-Empt explores one of the most confronting situations a person can face—being threatened with a knife or bludgeon-type weapon during a robbery. Through realistic scenarios and Krav Maga principles, you’ll learn how to assess the threat, understand when compliance is the safest option, recognise when a robbery becomes a threat to life, and respond with practical skills when immediate action becomes necessary.
Description
“Violence is rarely instantaneous. It usually follows a predictable path. The earlier you recognise that path, the more options you have to change the outcome”.
Pre-Empt is the next step in the InDefence training system, building on the principles introduced in First Contact while focusing specifically on static weapon threats.
Unlike spontaneous assaults, many armed robberies begin with a person already controlling the situation using the threat of a knife or bludgeon-type weapon. The challenge isn’t simply defending against the weapon—it’s recognising what is happening, understanding the offender’s intent, and making the right decision at the right time.
This workshop explores the timeline of an armed robbery, helping participants understand how these incidents develop and how their options change as the situation unfolds.
During the workshop you’ll learn:
- The circumstances that create opportunities for armed robbery and how to recognise times of increased vulnerability.
- How offenders use fear, intimidation and distance to control victims.
- Understanding the difference between a robbery and a genuine threat to life.
- Why compliance is often the safest and most appropriate response.
- Recognising the critical indicators that suggest the situation is escalating beyond the offender’s original intent.
- Tactical positioning, awareness and decision-making during static weapon threats.
- Practical Krav Maga responses to static knife and bludgeon-type weapon threats when immediate defensive action becomes necessary to preserve life.
- Creating opportunities to escape and reach safety following a defensive response.
This workshop focuses exclusively on static weapon threats—situations where the offender is threatening with the weapon rather than actively attacking. Dynamic knife assaults, committed with repeated stabbing or slashing actions, involve different tactical considerations and are covered in later workshops.
Designed for participants who have completed First Contact, Pre-Empt expands your understanding of conflict from unarmed aggression to life-threatening armed encounters. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of when compliance is the safest choice, when immediate action may become unavoidable, and the practical skills needed to respond under extreme pressure.
