A FIGHTING MENTALITY

On Monday night we ran classes which encompassed multiple attacker and fighting drills.

Looking around the room I felt a huge sense of pride to see how far many of the students have come in their Krav journey.  Most people when they start out training in Krav Maga have little to no experience or skills in fighting.

One of the many things that I like about Krav Maga Global Krav Maga is that the journey is very progressive.  Rather than throwing people in at the deep end and getting them to punch on straight away, Krav Maga has a very progressive journey towards becoming a person who is prepared to fight when they have to.

The journey is about taking a person who is petrified or extremely anxious around the concept of violence and creating a person who embraces and is prepared to voluntarily stand up against someone whom they know is about to try and hurt them.

In the training we use various tools to create the fighting mentality (not to be confused with the concept of sports fighting), such as:

  • Slow fighting
  • Conditioning drills
  • Light sparring
  • Heavy contact sparring
  • Grappling
  • Ground fighting
  • Multiple attacker drills

Krav Maga is not about seeking fights; it is about being prepared to protect yourself and those you care about in the face of imminent danger. So, step onto the path, embrace the journey, and unleash the warrior within.
